We finally got an old horse in with a 5 mm oro-antral fistula secondary to periodontal disease.
The tooth was pulled and the sinus flushed. On the second visit I packed the fistula with surgyfoam (made a roll) and applied the MicroLyte patch all around the roll before packing the fistula.

On the follow-up recheck [one week later] the fistula was closed. I was impressed with the speed of healing. N=1 needs more data but I am sold on the practicality of the treatment.

I just wanted to let you know that I used MicroLyte Vet on a rabbit patient. It had a mass removed over a month ago and the surgery site had been slow to heal. I wanted to touch base with you again about that nasty wound on my dog’s foot. I changed the bandage tonight after the dressing had been on for 48 hours and it looked AMAZING. My non-vet husband was super impressed. We have been treating this wound/infection/hot spot for almost 8 weeks with numerous topical and systemic meds. Despite lots of effort and bandaging it had enlarged from the size of a quarter to the size of a half-dollar and had become more purulent. Tonight, the wound had actually epithelialized circumferentially and only an area in the center remained denuded that was smaller than a dime. There was no drainage. I’m very impressed (and believe me, I am not easily impressed). I’m mad at myself for not getting before and after pics.
